Sustainability- in Conversation with our Founder

‘Because I care!’ - Lisa Vorreiter, founder of LISA VORREITER HOME

What made you set up LVH?

‘The question I asked myself was: What type of business would I confidently put my name to. -I knew it had to revolve around sustainability or it simply would never fully align with me long term.

Fabrics have always been a true passion of mine, so combining my consciousness of sustainability with fabrics almost seems like it was a given.

And to become a respectable creator at any level in this day and age, I truly believe that sustainability must be at the forefront of it all. It must be THE non negotiable pillar everything revolves around and evolves from.'

What does sustainability mean to you?

‘It means to respect our future, nature and life. Do I want to create something new that will still be there to burden the planet my grandchildren would be living on? -No, so it was a simple decision for me all along.’

What was your initial driver to start the business?

‘Making sustainability the key force in setting up my business made this whole experience even more rewarding. It was absolutely my initial driver throughout this journey.’

How would you say LVH ticks the boxes in terms of sustainability?

‘Luxury in itself already comes with an element of sustainability. It stands for a long lasting, well made and hence durable product.

The fabrics we use are of the highest quality you can find on the market and we only ever use overstock/ end of roll fabrics for our cushions. This truly makes each cushion unique.

Aside from that, we take great care in ensuring the highest possible standards during our manufacturing process. Every cushion is made at a female led factory in Germany. They are made to last for years to come.

Also, for example, we don’t attach any swing tags to our cushions to avoid these from being thrown into the bin the moment our customers receive their orders.'

What do you want customers to take away from this strong brand ethos?

‘Even small changes can make a big difference. So if a single consumer thinks, shopping consciously won’t make an impact, I’d absolutely disagree. Each of us has the power to make a significant difference. Not just by what choices we make daily, but also by living in a way that educates our children to follow this conscious led path.’

What do you think are common misconceptions people have of sustainability focussed brands?

‘I would like to prove to them, that a brand purely based on sustainability can absolutely be beautiful.’

What would you hope your customers take away from this?

‘I’d love for everyone to place more value on what we already have, treasure it, care for it, respect it. This throwaway mentality is what is so damaging. Buy quality over quantity and automatically your environmental footprint will improve.’

Briefly tell us about why you chose to sell wool inserts only?

‘They are a revelation. I spent weeks researching what I can truly feel comfortable selling my cushions with. It was vital to me not to sell anything synthetic, which is known to increase the toxic load inside our homes. There simply had to be a natural alternative. I found it in the form of our utterly plush, 100% wool cushions, which we are incredibly proud to also sell on our website.'
